Humility and Servanthood: A Rant

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! – Philippians 2:5-8

Over the past week or so a few of my colleagues have suggested that it may be time to dust off some of my old video ‘Rick Mercer style’ rants and get them out there again. I wasn’t so sure at first, but it did take my mind back to one of my first ever rants about homelessness. I realized that the content of this one particular rant was very much about the need to serve others and how powerful that can be for everyone involved.

So without writing anything else, here is what has become known as The Potato Rant

Peace,

Prayer for a Servant’s Heart
Make me a servant like You, dear Lord,
Living for others each day.
Humble and Loving in all that I say.
Give me Lord a servant’s heart
Here’s my life take every part
Give me Lord a servant’s heart…
Help me draw so close to You
That Your love comes shining through
Give me Lord a servant’s heart.
Amen
