Kudos

Now that we are through the Thanksgiving holiday season, we can more easily focus on our other 2 missional themes of October; appreciation and celebration.

In a recent email from our divisional Employee Relations (ER) Director Lisa Baker, she writes:

“I would like to suggest that we take the month of October to celebrate and give thanks for the great work that our teams are doing…Psalm 9:1 says “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds”. In the spirit of thankfulness, we praise God, so let us also be thankful for each other…Our ER team receive ‘kudos’ from time to time, and so we have created a ‘KUDOS’ wall where we post encouraging emails that have been received from you – our Ministry Units! I would like to invite you to send me words of encouragement or celebration about a member or members of the ER team that I can post on our wall and let them know they are appreciated!
Hey…if you like the idea, perhaps you could start your own celebration initiative!”

I do indeed like this idea.
A lot!

I know that I really love and appreciate the people that I work with but don’t intentionally tell them often enough. Lisa’s email will challenge me in these last few days of October to make sure that I tell my co-workers how grateful I am for who they are and what they do.

And I would like to challenge you to do the same.
An encouragement note or a card goes a long way.

Personally, it means the world to me to get a random email or note from someone with no ulterior motive than to tell me how much they appreciate me. So be challenged this week to do things to show your co-workers how much they are appreciated and celebrated.

It goes a very long way to enable our team to continue to be ‘the hand of God in the heart of the city”.

You are loved, celebrated and appreciated.

Prayer

Loving God,
We give thanks and rejoice in the hard work, fun, and fellowship that our staff and volunteers have in making our work a wonderful experience for all.

May we find gladness and celebration in all of our successes,
and even in our challenges and lessons.

May our experience of teamwork and sacrifice strengthen our bond as a staff and deepen our commitment to our mission to serve others.

Grant us regular rest and renewal so that we may continue to serve you faithfully and without ceasing.

Amen.
